Scholars of Mongolia and Vietnam Assess Bilateral Relations

Ulaanbaatar, September 16, 2024 /MONTSAME/. In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS) and Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) jointly hosted the “70 Years of Mongolia-Vietnam Relations: Achievements and Future Prospects” scientific conference in Hanoi, Vietnam, on September 12, 2024. Vice President of the MAS Prof. Tserendorj Tsegmed, Vice President of the VASS Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Minh and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Sereejav Jigjee made opening remarks. The Mongolian Embassy in Hanoi provided support in organizing the scientific conference. The scientific conference assessed 70 years of bilateral relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Vietnam, emphasizing prospects. Participants and guests actively engaged in discussions. Representatives from the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) delivered speeches on topics such as “Vietnam-Mongolia Political Relations—Foreign Relations, Security, and Defense” and “Economic Relations between Mongolia and Vietnam.” The Department of Regional Studies and International Organizations of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS) presented on “Mongolia-Vietnam Political Relations.” During the conference, Ambassador Extraordinary Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Sereejav Jigjee noted, "In November 2023, President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa paid a State Visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, during which he proposed elevating our bilateral relations and cooperation to the level of a Comprehensive Partnership. This visit assessed 70 years of bilateral relations and laid the foundation for future cooperation." Ambassador Sereejav emphasized that Mongolia considers Vietnam an important partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and a “Third Neighbor.” He presented the first editions of the "Secret History of the Mongols," translated into Vietnamese, to scholars and scientists of the two countries. He wished for scholars and scientists to promote the "Secret History of the Mongols" and use it in their research and studies. Scholars and scientists of the two countries agreed that there is a need to train and prepare future generations to inherit and continue traditional relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Vietnam.
