Mongolian Opera Singers Shine at “Grand Stage Awards”

Ulaanbaatar, October 8, 2024 /MONTSAME/. On September 26-30, 2024, the first international opera singing competition “Grand Stage Awards,” jointly organized by the Moscow International House of Music and “Opera Globe Artist” European management agency, was held in Moscow, Russia. 


Dorjnamjin Baatar, a graduate student of the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music, received the Grand Prix Award of the competition, and Byambaragchaa Khurelbaatar, soloist from the State Opera and Ballet Academic Theatre of Mongolia, won a special prize named after Gioachino Rossini.


The competition was organized in three stages, and 179 professional opera singers from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Georgia, China, South Korea, Germany, Austria, Greece, the United States, Israel, and Slovenia competed in the first round. Of these, the jury selected 50 singers in the second round.  As a result, the top 20 opera singers from Russia, Mongolia, Armenia, and Germany made it to the finals.
