Mongolia to Cooperate with the University of Utah of the United States on Cancer Care

Ulaanbaatar, October 9, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Minister of Health of Mongolia Munkhsaikhan Togtmol met with the President of the Utah Senate of the United States Stuart Adams and Taylor Randall, the Director of the University of Utah, and other officials to discuss cooperation in cancer care.


At the meeting, Minister of Health Munkhsaikhan Togtmol expressed gratitude for providing important contributions to the healthcare sector of Mongolia for the past 20 years. He expressed that cooperation between the Ministry and the University of Utah would be pleasant and noted that the rate of cancer and related deaths is high in Mongolia. 

At the meeting, Minister of Health Munkhsaikhan Togtmol expressed his gratitude for the valuable contributions made to Mongolia’s healthcare sector over the past 20 years. He mentioned that he would be pleased to expand all forms of cooperation with the University of Utah and emphasized that cancer incidence and mortality rates in Mongolia are high. Therefore, the country is working on a comprehensive national policy to address this issue. The Minister also expressed interest in collaborating on training and empowering professionals in this field.

Director of the University of Utah Taylor Randall conveyed his intention to establish a Breast Cancer Clinic in Mongolia and introduce cervical cancer treatment technology. He stated that the University of Utah is willing to support the training of doctors in breast and cervical cancer treatment and expressed the possibility of supporting the Ministry of Health of Mongolia in establishing regional Cancer Centers.

At the meeting, President of the Utah Senate of the United States Stuart Adams highlighted that Utah’s cancer hospital is one of the top-ranked hospitals globally, and invited Minister of Health Munkhsaikhan Togtmol to visit. The parties agreed to work together to improve cancer care and reduce cancer incidence.
