Gantulga Dambadarjaa Wins Silver, Munkhzaya Bayartsogt Secures Special Prize at Half Marathon Competitions

Ulaanbaatar, October 31, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Athletes from the Mongolian National Athletics team successfully competed in half marathons held in Chengdu, and Shanghai, China, on October 27, 2024.  

 

At the East Asian Half Marathon Championships in Chengdu, International Master of Sports of Mongolia Gantulga Dambadarjaa claimed a silver medal with a time of one hour, five minutes, and seven seconds. The event saw participation from 80 athletes representing seven countries from the East Asian region. Mongolia was represented by three male and three female athletes. 

 

Moreover, in the 10-kilometer International Marathon in Shanghai, Munkhzaya Bayartsogt secured fourth place with a time of thirty-three minutes and thirty-one seconds. Competing against over 100 athletes from marathon-leading nations such as Ethiopia and Morocco, Ms. Munkhzaya secured a special prize. This was a record-setting performance as she was the first female athlete from Mongolia to compete in a 10-kilometer marathon. Having won the Mengniu Hohhot Marathon a month prior, she is currently training to participate in the Shanghai Marathon this coming December.
