Ulaanbaatar, January 13, 2025 /MONTSAME/. As part of the Ulaanbaatar Metro project, 40 points for engineer-geological survey drilling were marked along Enkhtaivan Avenue in May 2024.

The “Dohwa Engineering” consortium of the Republic of Korea will carry out engineering and geological work to finalize the metro feasibility study in 2-3 stages. In the first stage, geological and geographical characteristics of the surface are recorded along the planned route while placing tunneling equipment  30 meters underground and collecting initial data.

As a start, geological survey drilling has begun at three locations so far. Specifically, at the Chuluun Ovoo Roundabout in the eastern part of Ulaanbaatar, in front of Sukhbaatar Square near the Blue Sky Tower, and in the Ulzii bus station near Tavan Shar in the western part of the city. In the second phase, a detailed feasibility study of the metro will be conducted. Drilling will be carried out to depths of 30, 50, and 70 meters.

Additionally, Governor of the Capital City of Mongolia Nyambaatar Khishgee announced on January 12, 2025, that the British Government will issue a guarantee on the Ulaanbaatar Metro project. The Governor also noted that the favorable decisions from the citizens on the implementation of the project would contribute to the project actions being completed on schedule.
