Ulaanbaatar, January 15, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects of the Government of Japan will fund the Renovation Project of the General Hospital of Sukhbaatar aimag.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Igawahara Masaru and Governor of Sukhbaatar aimag M. Iderbat signed the Project Contract on January 9, 2024. The Signing Ceremony was attended by Minister of Urban Development, Construction, and Housing Batsuuri Jadamba.

The General Hospital of Sukhbaatar aimag is facing risks of disrupted medical services and compromised infection control due to ongoing issues such as leaking ceilings, damaged electrical equipment, and frequent power outages.

Ambassador Igawahara Masaru emphasized that this project would resolve the issues the hospital is facing, allowing its doctors and staff to work in a comfortable environment and providing patients with a safe and healthy environment for treatment and care.

The Government of Japan has implemented the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects in Mongolia for 34 years, since 1990. The Hospital Renovation Project is the 610th project in Mongolia, funded under the Grant Assistance, and the 15th in Sukhbaatar aimag. The maximum funding limit for this project is USD 233,748.

The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects is a collaborative project involving urban and local governments, education and health institutions in developing countries, and Japan's diplomatic missions abroad. Funding is provided to projects that directly benefit local residents.
