Ulaanbaatar, February 17, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The "Mongols Nomadic Winter Festival 2025" kicked off on February 16, 2025, at National Garden Park. The Governor’s Office of the Capital City and the Culture and Art Department of Ulaanbaatar are organizing the event to promote the nomadic lifestyle and cultural heritage to the public, particularly children and young people, encouraging winter tourism.
The Festival is displaying 28 of the best ice sculptures of the "Mazaalai" International Ice Competition, special exhibits including "Lunar New Year and its Customs," and other attractions, offering visitors to experience the nomadic lifestyle, national costumes, customs, food, and games.
As the Lunar
New Year approaches, the food, clothing, customs, rituals, and games related to this National Holiday are at the center of the "Mongols
Nomadic Winter Festival 2025." Moreover, visitors can take part in a wide range of winter games and activities such
as ice archery, ice knuckle-bone shooting, horseback travel, and
dog sledding, and enjoy performances of camel caravan, Mongol Bankhar, livestock
guarding dogs as well as hunting dogs.
The "Mongols Nomadic Winter
Festival" is being organized alongside the winter ice and snow festival that aims
to showcase traditional intangible cultural heritage practices specific to
winter and raise awareness for the conservation of the Mazaalai bear, a critically
endangered Gobi bear.
"Mongols Nomadic Winter Festival 2025" will take place until February 22.
