Silk Way Rally 2025: A Thrilling Cross-Border Adventure through Mongolia and Russia

Ulaanbaatar, February 21, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Silk Way Rally 2025, a prestigious motorsport competition that challenges top rally drivers worldwide, will take place on July 12-22, 2025, spanning 10 days across the Irkutsk-Ulaanbaatar-Gorno Altaysk route.


Participants should obtain their permit for their selected category and have their country-issued driver's license. The competition will feature multiple vehicle classes, including motorcycles, ATVs, two types of SUVs, and large trucks.


The rally will commence on July 12, 2025, with competitors embarking from Ulan-Ude toward Ulaanbaatar, crossing the international border between Mongolia and the Russian Federation. The course will then traverse through Ulaanbaatar City, Bayankhongor, Gobi-Altai, and Khovd aimags, before reaching the finishing line in Gorno-Altaysk, a town in Russia with an elevation of 2,500 meters above sea level. Covering a total distance of 5,500 kilometers, the rally includes 2,500 kilometers of asphalt roads.

The Silk Way Rally was first launched in 2009 under the auspices of the Presidents of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan. The rally has twice concluded in Mongolia, first in 2019 and again in 2024.

The Silk Way Rally 2019 set a historical record, featuring 97 competitors from 40 countries, along with 54 rally cars, 16 large trucks, and 24 motorcycles. A massive support team, comprising 394 vehicles, 1,400 officials, and 120 international journalists, accompanied the event. Meanwhile, the Silk Way Rally 2024 saw an even greater turnout, with 752 racers from 30 countries competing in 278 vehicles.
