Ulaanbaatar, March 28, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The preliminary feasibility study for the New Ring Road project, one of 24 mega projects to be implemented in Ulaanbaatar City from 2025 to 2028, is currently under development.  At present, works such as road and engineering geological surveys, base map preparation, analysis of current traffic flow on the road, the city's general development plan, integrated environmental impact assessment, and studies on engineering utilities networks are underway. According to the preliminary plan, the New Ring Road will connect the Tuul Highway on the western side to the Bayanzurkh Bridge and Tuv aimag via a tunnel on the eastern side. The final feasibility study is scheduled to be completed by June 2025, and it will be discussed with the relevant professional councils. Upon completion of this project, the average speed of traffic is expected to increase by 23.3 percent. The New Ring Road will stretch over 50 km with six lanes and will consist of the first and second ring roads. The first ring road will be approximately 20 km long, while the second ring road is expected to span 24.4 km, with preliminary route selection currently in progress.
