Ulaanbaatar, April 27, 2025 /MONTSAME/. At the invitation of Chairman of the State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia Amarbayasgalan Dashzegve, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Woo Won-shik is paying an official visit to Mongolia on April 26-30, 2025.

On April 26, 2025, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Woo Won-shik planted a tree at the “Friendship Forest” Park, established in Gorkhi-Terelj National Park under the Mongolia-South Korea “Green Belt” project. The “Green Belt” project was initially launched in 1998 following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia and the Korea Forest Service of the Republic of Korea. The project aims at combating desertification, preventing yellow dust storms, and contributing to environmental protection. The project will plant and grow over 10,000 trees belonging to 21 species in the Park, covering a 12.9-hectare area.

Since its launch in 2006, the project has planted trees on approximately 4,000 hectares across Mongolia. Reforestation activities are also ongoing in various aimags and regions of Mongolia.
