Foreign Minister of Mongolia Pays Courtesy Call on President of the Republic of the Philippines

Ulaanbaatar, May 20, 2025 /MONTSAME/. At the invitation of Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines Enrique A. Manalo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Battsetseg Batmunkh is paying an official visit to the Republic of the Philippines on May 18–20, 2025.
On May 19, 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh paid a courtesy call on President of the Republic of the Philippines Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr.
Minister Battsetseg conveyed warm greetings from President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, and ceremonially handed over a letter addressed to President of the Republic of the Philippines Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. The two sides highlighted the broad potential for deepening economic cooperation by expanding collaboration in agriculture and supporting small- and medium-sized enterprises. The President and Foreign Minister held productive discussions on increasing Mongolia’s exports of agricultural products, including wool and hides, and on attracting investment to its manufacturing sector.
The President of the Philippines noted that traditional friendly relations between the two countries have developed steadily over the past 50 years and affirmed commitment to support for intensifying Philippine–Mongolian cooperation across all sectors in the upcoming half-century. The two sides agreed to intensify cooperation by improving the legal framework in labor and social-protection spheres, supplying highly skilled workers tailored to both labor markets, and implementing an English-Language Teacher-Exchange Program.
Foreign Minister Battsetseg underlined that launching direct flights would be an important step in boosting people-to-people exchanges, trade, tourism, and cultural relations. Minister Battsetseg also expressed readiness to facilitate Mongolian start-ups and young businesses interested in fintech, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation to enter the Philippine market and to support private sector operations. The Foreign Minister of Mongolia expressed confidence that the Philippine Government will continue to safeguard the rights and interests of Mongolian citizens living, working, and studying in the country.
The two sides exchanged views on implementing joint projects and programs that align Mongolia’s “Billions of Trees” National Movement with the Philippines’ “Five Million Trees by 2028” Program, contributing to shared goals of mitigating the impacts of climate change and ensuring ecosystem stability. This official visit is an important step in expanding relations and cooperation with the Philippines under Mongolia’s broader foreign-policy engagement in Southeast Asia, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.
