Ulaanbaatar, June 4, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Baganuur Battery-Storage Plant supplied 30.372 million kWh of electricity to the central grid, contributing to the power system of Ulaanbaatar and the central region of Mongolia.

The Baganuur Battery-Storage Plant generates clean and green energy and stores power at night to feed electricity to the grid during peak hours. Ulaanbaatar accounts for more than 60 percent of Mongolia’s total electricity consumption, sharing an average system load of around 1,245 MW. During the 2023-2024 winter, the Capital City’s power system faced a 200 MW shortage, which was swiftly covered when two new power plants became operational.

In particular, the 150 MW Buuruljuut Power Plant and the 50 MW Baganuur Battery-Storage Plant began delivering electricity to the central grid in December 2024, offsetting electricity shortages. As of today, the Buuruljuut Power Plant is continuously meeting 100 percent of the electricity orders assigned by the National Dispatch Center, supplying the integrated system of the central region without interruption.
