ADB to help transform two national parks in Mongolia as models for sustainable tourism
On May 28, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved USD38 million in loans to develop ecotourism in Khuvsgul Lake National Park and Onon-Balj National Park to serve as models for economically inclusive development and conservation in Mongolia.

Sustainable Tourism as a driver of growth
Globally, international tourist arrivals are expected to reach 2.44 billion by 2030, a 75 percent increase over 2018, with Asia and the Pacific projected to account for a third of this number.The fact shows how important role tourism can play in the economic development of countries. Therefore, Asian Development Bank, largest multilateral development bank in Asia and the Pacific is focusing on tourism and one of topics of the 52nd Annual Meeting of ADB's Board of Governors was sustainable tourism as a driver of growth.

Historical tourism to be developed in the birthplace of Chinggis Khaan
Within the Government’s goal to develop historical and specialized tourism, a number of major projects are planned to increase the international tourist arrivals to one million and revenues from the sector to USD 1.1 billion. In this regard, the eastern region will be redeveloped as tourism region and major construction works to attract tourists commenced last year at the sites related to Chinggis Khaan, 13th century history and the Secret History of the Mongols in Khentii aimag, the great khan’s birthplace.
