National Wealth Worth USD 253 Billion
Mongolia’s forests—spanning 18.3 million
hectares, or about eight percent of the country—represent an ecological and
economic asset valued at an estimated USD 253 billion, according to a
Mongolia–EU Forest Partnership study. Despite this enormous potential, more
than 70 percent of these forests are aging or degraded, leaving them vulnerable
to pests, disease, and wildfires. It is now crucial for Mongolia to manage its
forest fund more effectively—both to protect the land and to use these
resources in a sustainable, responsible way. Series – Part 1
