Prime Ministers hold official talks

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Prime Minister of Mongolia Mr Ch.Saikhanbileg and his S.Korean counterpart Mr Hwang Kyo-ahn held official talks in the State House on Wednesday.

Expressing a mutual satisfaction with the widening Mongolia-S.Korea comprehensive partnership relations and cooperation in politics, trade, economy, humanity, culture and development, the two dignitaries noted that high level mutual visits have significantly contributed to broadening of the ties in all spheres and to strengthening of the concrete cooperation.

Mr Saikhanbileg hoped that Mr Hwang’s visit, which is being coincided with the 25th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relations, will contribute to boosting of the Mongolia-S.Korea cooperation in many spheres and to fortifying of the inter-citizen ties.

The two Prime Ministers applauded an intensive development of the cooperation in the trade and investment sectors since the establishment of the diplomatic relations, and emphasized an importance of expanding the cooperation based on complementary economic opportunities.

They concurred to deepen the collaboration in minerals, energy, road, transportation and construction, through the intergovernmental joint committee.

They also talked about ways of boosting the bilateral cooperation in areas of infrastructure such as auto road, railway, airport, power plant, energy and mineral spheres, and agreed to carry out the project on the 5th thermal power station of UB.

In addition, the Premiers concurred to open a direct flight between Ulaanbaatar and Pusan from March of 2016.

Mr Hwang asked the Mongolian side to pay attention to payment issues of the current railway construction between Ukhaakhudag and Gashuunsukhait, being implemented by a S.Korean company, as well as soil exploitation. In response, the Mongolian PM said he will focus on this matter.

Saying that non-refundable aid from S.Korea and technical assistance from the Cooperation Foundation for Economic Development have contributed to the social-economic development of Mongolia, Mr Saikhanbileg asked the S.Korean side to support Mongolia in implementing projects on upgrading the inter-city transportation service and having non-refundable aid for IT sector.

Mr Hwang emphasized a significance of rendering assistance to the social-economic development and of boosting the bilateral friendly relations and cooperation through the development cooperation. He said his country is ready to study projects proposed by the Mongolian side, at related organizations.

The Mongolian Premier said Mongolia wants to become a member of the APEC and of the ASEAN Dialogue and to join the East Asia Summit. Mr Hwang hoped that the membership issues of Mongolia will be resolved soon in accordance with relevant regulations, and congratulated Mongolia on becoming the member of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

The two PMs concurred to collaborate in successfully organizing the 11th ASEM Summit to be held next year in Ulaanbaatar. Mr Hwang hoped that this Summit will run successfully and fruitfully.

The two Premiers underlined an importance of ensuring the peace and security in the Korean Peninsula, and reached a agreement that this Peninsula must be free from nuclear weapons.

In addition, the Prime Ministers emphasized a significance of creating the trust, peace and cooperation in Northeast Asian region, and said the two countries aspire to contribute to the regional development and progress through the complementary cooperation within three initiatives--the Ulaanbaatar Talks by the Mongolian President Ts.Elbegdorj and two of the S.Korean leader.

The Mongolian Premier asked his colleague to study a possibility for improving the visa terms for Mongolian people travelling S.Korea, while Mr Hwang asked the Mongolian side to pay attention to ensuring a safety for the S.Koreans residing and visiting Mongolia.

The two PMs noted that social-economic and cultural events that had ran in frames of the 25th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relations contributed to enhancing of the mutual understanding between the two countries’ people, and agreed to collaborate in fully exploiting all opportunities and reserves in the spheres of health, tourism, culture and education.

Mr Hwang invited the Mongolian Premier to visit the Republic of Korea.

Present at the talks were B.Ganbold, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to S.Korea; D.Erdenebat, Mongolia’s Minister of Industry; M.Zorigt, the Minister of Road and Transportation; B.Delgermaa, chief advisor to the Premier; the State Secretaries of some Ministries; and other officials.
