Mongolia has 56 million heads of livestock
EconomyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At the end of 2015, 56.0 million heads of livestock were counted nationwide, of which 3.3 million were horses, 3.8 million--cattle, 368.0 thousand--camels, 24.9 million--sheep and 23.6 million--goats. In overall, livestock increased 4.0 million or 7.7 percent against the previous year.
A number of horses grew by 299.6 thousand or 10.0 percent, of cattle--by 366.6 thousand or 10.7 percent, of camels--by 18.7 thousand or 5.4 percent, of sheep--by 1.7 million or 7.4 percent, and of goats--by 1.6 million or 7.2 percent.
Last year, a total of 625.6 thousand animals were lost, which equaled to 1.2 percent of total livestock at the beginning of the year.
