Mongolian Police celebrates its 95th anniversary
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the Police of Mongolia, the leaders of law enforcement laid wreaths at the Monument to D.Sukhbaatar and paid tribute to the Statue of Chinggis Khaan on July 21. Present were, the chief commissioner and the chairman of the General Police Department R.Chingis and other officials.
The police is one of the first state bodies of the Mongolian government established after the victory of the People’s Revolution in 1921, with a name “Militia Squad”. Since that time until 1990, the police had been enforcing law, ensuring public security and fighting crimes, under jurisdiction of the Ministry of Domestic Affairs and the Ministry of Public Security. With the political and social transformations of the 1990’s, it was renamed as the Generel Police Department, and later in 1996, became one of the regulatory agencies of the Government.
In the margin of 95th jubilee celebration, a ceremonial meeting is held today (July 21) at the Central Palace of Culture, and a parade will walk at the Central Stadium on July 22.
Chairman of the State Great Khural (Parliament) M.Enkhbold delivered a congratulatory message to the personnel of police on the historic anniversary, where he said he is convinced that the police will keep on perfoming with a great honor their duty of cherishing law and human rights, combating crimes, ensuring public security and delivering prompt and quality services to the citizens and organizations.
“I wish all personnel of the police departments successes in their duty, and health and happiness”, he said.
