Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Stone Stele monument for ‘Mongolian Tanjur’ preserved in the National Library of Mongolia was inscribed as World documentary heritage of UNESCO. The monument was created to mark the historical event of arrival of the 226 volumes of the Mongolian Tanjur into the capital city of Mongolia in 1924.

The monument depicts text of an agreement with 9 provisions in accordance to which the Tanjur in Mongolian script kept at the Monument temple in Tsahar county had been transferred into ownership of Mongolia. As a result of the agreement reached between the first director of the Institute of Sutra and Records S.Jamyan and first director Mongolian museum N.Dendev, the stone stele monument was created in 1929. N.Dendev, who created the monument was prominent at copying and stone engraving.

The ‘Mongolian Tanjur’ was inscribed as UNESCO’s World documentary heritage in 2011, becoming the first mongolian work to be included in UNESCO’s World documentary heritage list.
