Judo teams of ROK and DPRK to march under one flag at East-Asia Judo Championships

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Judo teams from the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will march under the Korean Unification flag at the 2018 East-Asia Judo Championships, to be held on June 8-10 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

On June 6, a regular meeting of the Championships Organizing Committee was held in the State House, in which the Committee stated that preparation work of the Championships is completed. The organizers informed that teams from the DPRK and ROK will march under the Korean Unification flag at the 2018 East-Asian Judo Championships opening. It is the first time that the ROK and DPRK marching under the united flag and sending their unified team in a summer sports event. During the Championships, President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga is planning to receive judokas and authorities of the South and North Korean Judo Federations. Chief of Staff of the President’s Office Z.Enkhbold is heading the 14-member Organizing committee of the Championships.
 


As of today, judo teams from Mongolia, Japan, the ROK, and the People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, the DPRK, Macao and Hong Kong have confirmed their participation at the Championships. So, it is expected that more than 200 foreign delegates will attend the Championships including athletes, honored guests and officials. 

The Championships will be judged by 20 referees from eight countries. On the sidelines of the Championships, the Judo Union of Asia will hold an International Referee Examination.
