Heavy metal detecting equipment presented

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Equipment that detects the amount of heavy metal from biological and environmental samples was presented to the Environmental Toxicology Laboratory of the National Center for Public Health and the National Emergency Care Center for Poisoning on June 4. To improve the availability of tools and equipment and enhance the capacity of the laboratory in correctly determining the cause of a chemical accident and diagnose and give treatment to patients without losing any time, the equipment were supplied within a joint project by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.
Various measures were taken in the frameworks of the project to build the capacity of public health management of chemical incidents in aims of enhancing the health services during a chemical accident in Mongolia in 2017-2018.
The equipment detects heavy metals, such as As, Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn, Mn, Co, Fe and Ag in drinking water, wastewater, air and soil. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Health L.Byambasuren, Deputy Minister of Defense T.Dulamdorj, WHO Representative Dr.Sergey Diorditsa, Director of the National Center for Public Health D.Narantuya and corresponding officials.
