Training department for intensive care opens at Amgalan Maternity Hospital

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In the framework of the project, ‘Introducing new technologies in management of mother and child health care’, jointly being implemented by the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Health Department of the Capital City, a training department for intensive care of mothers and infants opened at the Amgalan Maternity Hospital of the Capital City.


With the establishment of the department equipped with necessary tools and training devices to conduct training for intensive care, it becomes possible for the hospital’s doctors and specialists to gain experience and improve their knowledge and skills.


At the maternity hospital, a tele-consultation equipment was also installed, through which doctors and specialists are able to quickly receive advice on delivery and intensive care of mothers and give health care services, and save the lives of mothers and infants as a result.


The opening ceremony was attended by Head of UNFPA Office in Mongolia Kaori Ishikawa, Head of the Health Department of the Capital City L.Tumurbaatar and the Head of the Amgalan Maternity Hospital of the Capital City Ts.Batbold.


The year of 2019 was announced as the year to enhance the health care services for mothers and infants by the Health Department of the Capital City and certain measures are being taken with the support of UNFPA, such as assessing the professional development needs and IT skills of the doctors and specialists of the capital city’s health centers in four districts and three maternity hospitals.
