Mongolian delegates partaking in 63rd IAEA General Conference

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 63rd General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is running from September 16 to 20 in Vienna, Austria. Nearly 3000 delegates of IAEA’s 171 member states, international organizations and NGOs are taking part in the conference.


Head of Mongolian delegation, Resident Representative of Mongolia to the IAEA G.Battungalag addressed at the general discussion of the conference. Highlighting that the Agency’s significant role in using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, introducing nuclear technologies in fields of medicine, agriculture and environmental conservation as well as ensuring sustainable development, Ms. G.Battungalag presented actions and policies taken by the Mongolian Government.


Furthermore, Resident Representative G.Battungalag mentioned outcomes of the projects realized in Mongolia within IAEA’s Technical Cooperation Program and expressed her stance on broadening scope of the projects in the future in addition to increasing their contributions in sustainable development of Mongolia.


Besides discussing IAEA’s operational report and budget, participants are having discussions on number of issues such as nuclear and radiation safety, technical cooperation, using nuclear science and technologies for peaceful purposes and strengthening international cooperation.
