First Veterinarian Conference takes place

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Under the auspices of the Prime Minister of Mongolia, the First Veterinarian Conference was organized at the State House on November 1. Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh gave opening remarks, and Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Ch.Ulaan did a presentation under the theme, ‘State policy on the veterinarian sector, and objectives’. Over 850 representatives of veterinarians in rural areas and the capital city attended the conference.



The participants discussed enhancing the partnership between state and private-owned veterinary hospitals, implementation of the Law on Animal Health, Law on Medicine and Medical Devices, Law on Food and Food Safety, and continuing the implementation of the e-certification system that is used to certify the hygiene and safety of products of animal origin and its introduction nationwide.


They also put forth suggestions on the bill on livestock health insurance, which will create the conditions for accessible, good-quality veterinary services each season in the prevention of various animal diseases. During the discussion, the veterinary doctors expressed that they are putting in effort into having their services be accessible and of good quality alongside abiding the corresponding law and regulations.



The sector’s scholars and conference participants highlighted the conference was fruitful as discussions were held on creating the conditions for increasing the income of herders, enhancing the financial system of the sector as well as objectives for the near and distant future and joint participation of state and private-owned veterinary institutions and herders in having a guarantee for the health of Mongolian livestock.
