Parliament passes amendments to Budget Assumptions for 2021-2022
PoliticsUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. At its plenary meeting on November 13, Mongolian Parliament approved the Budget Framework of 2020 State Budget and the amendment to the Law on Budget Assumptions for 2021-2022.
The amendment to the Law on
Budget Assumptions for 2021-2022, which was submitted to the parliament
together with the Bill on State Budget 2020, reflected the real growth of GDP to
be 6 percent in 2020-2022 and the equilibrated revenue of general government
budget to be MNT11.7 trillion in 2020, MNT12.8 trillion in 2021 and MNT13.7
trillion in 2022. Moreover, expenditure was estimated to be MNT13.8 trillion in
2020, MNT14 trillion in 2021 and MNT14.5 trillion in 2022, but the government
debt is estimated to be MNT22.08 trillion in 2020, MNT22.9 trillion in 2021 and
MNT23.8 trillion in 2022.
During the discussion, MPs
inquired how the salary of public servants would be raised in the coming years.
In response, MP D.Togtokhsuren, head of the working group to prepare the bill
for parliamentary discussion, said that the government intends to raise the
salary and pension every year in compliance with the inflation. “The salary rise
will be around eight percent, plus an additional payment for long-term employment,
which will be 10 percent.” Following the
discussion, the amendment to the Law on Budget
Assumptions for 2021-2022 was approved with 60.7 percent of votes.
More bills and draft resolutions including the amendments to the Law on Land Fees, amendments to the Law on Special Protection Area were also approved during the plenary meeting.
