Republic Day and Mongolia-Thailand diplomatic anniversary celebrated in Bangkok

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On 25 November, the Embassy of Mongolia in the Kingdom of Thailand hosted a reception on the occasion of the 95th Republic Day of Mongolia and the 45th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Kingdom of Thailand.


The event, organized at Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok, was attended by more than 300 people, including Thai dignitaries led by H.E. Mr. Suchart Tancharoen, First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, National Assembly of Thailand, H.E. Mr. Chaisiri Anamarn, Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Mr. Anusart Suwanmongkon, Member of the Senate as well as H.E. Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, and officials from the Royal Thai Government, Ambassadors, their spouses and other representatives of diplomatic corps in Bangkok, ESCAP, private sector, academia, NGOs and media, as well as members of the Mongolian community in Thailand.



In his speech, Ambassador Tugsbilguun Tumurkhuleg pointed out that while Mongolia was among the first nations in Asia to adopt a Constitution and proclaim the Republic, throughout the past century, the country has ratified 4 Constitutions, each reflecting the country’s socio-economic development paths and realities, and informed the audience about the recent amendments to the Constitution of Mongolia, the second since its ratification in 1992.

 


He went on to emphasize the ever growing ties between Mongolia and the Kingdom of Thailand since the establishment of diplomatic ties 45 years ago, with a number of important high-level exchanges made in recent years. The Ambassador also expressed his hope that the newly-formed Consultative Body on Bilateral Cooperation between the governments of the two countries will be further strengthened, thus stimulating bilateral cooperation in trade, economy and people-to-people exchanges.


The cultural performance by a group of Mongolian artists, which followed the Ambassador’s speech, was sponsored by the Mongolian national flag air carrier – MIAT Mongolian Airlines, and featured folk performances by well-known artists such as the People’s Artist of Mongolia Mr. D.Sambuu, the Merited Artist Ms. G.Byambajargal and others.
