Monthly salary in Ulaanbaatar 9.9 percent higher than national average

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Last week, the National Statistical Office of Mongolia presented the social and economic statistical situation for February 2020.
The presentation shows that more than 679 thousand employees of 42 thousand establishments were covered in the payment report of social insurance premiums for the fourth quarter of 2019.
In particular, the number of establishments paying social insurance premiums grew by 1.5 thousand (3.8%) compared to the same period of last year.
A 27.5 thousand (4.2%) increase from the same period of the prior year was noticed in the number of employees and the number dropped by 5.6 thousand or 0.8% since the previous quarter.
Out of the total employees who pays social insurance premium, 103.7 (15.3%) thousand were in the education sector, 83.6 (12.3%) thousand were in the wholesale and retail trade, and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector, 77.0 (11.3%) thousand were in the public administration and defense, and compulsory social security sector, 70.3 (10.3%) thousand were in the manufacturing sector, 45.3 (6.7%) thousand were in the construction sector, 43.7 (6.4%) thousand were in the health care and social assistance sector, 40.2 (5.9%) thousand were in the mining and quarrying sector, 40.2 (5.9%) thousand were in the transportation and storage sector, 28.3 (4.2%) thousand were in the financial and insurance activities, 24.3 (3.6%) thousand were in the administrative and support service activities and the remaining 18.1 percent were in the other sectors
The National Statistical Office of Mongolia’s report on the average wages and salaries calculated from the report of the General Authority for Social Insurance indicates that median wage of a total of 679 thousand employees included in the report equals to MNT 905 thousand.
In the fourth quarter of 2019, the monthly average wages and salaries per employee was MNT 1.2 million, increased by MNT 122.4 thousand or 10.9% from the same period of the previous year and increased by MNT 76.3 thousand or 6.5% from the previous quarter.
The monthly average salary is calculated at MNT 838.9 thousand in the country’s western region, MNT 951.2 thousand in the eastern part, and MNT 1.1 million in the central area.
In Ulaanbaatar, the monthly average salary is MNT 1.4 million, which is higher by MNT 123.2 thousand (9.9%) than the national average.
