Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Some laboratories of the National
Institute of Forensic Science (NIFS) will be upgraded and NIFS specialists will
be upskilled with aid from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Specifically,
three laboratories of the institute will be renovated and receive technology
and equipment upgrades and the specialists will be provided training in South
Korea and in Mongolia, inviting South Korean specialists.
The project to improve the capacity of Mongolia’s forensic
science institute was selected from KOICA’s call for proposals, but its implementation
scheduled for the first quarter had been postponed due to COVID-19 outbreak.
On September 25, KOICA Resident Representative Jo Haeng-Lan
visited the institute to inform that the project will be implemented with funding of USD 7
million or MNT 19 billion between 2020 and 2030 even though the
pandemic has not yet ended.
