Project to apply digital solutions for Mongolia’s agriculture to be implemented

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On November 30, Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry held a meeting with United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO) Representative in Mongolia Vinod Ahuja and Asian Development Bank (ADB) County Director for Mongolia Pavit Ramachandran.
During the meeting, two project documents for technical cooperation on ‘Preventing risks and reducing impact of dzud’ and ‘Promotion of digital agriculture in Mongolia’ were signed.
Within the framework of the ‘Preventing risks and reducing impact of dzud’ project, much-needed measures such as preparation of livestock fodder for herder communities there will be taken for theregions, where poor weather conditions were experienced in the summer season of 2020, with a view to mitigate the risks of dzud - severe winter conditions.
Thanks to the latter project, information and technological advancements and digital solutions to be introduced in the agricultural industry of Mongolia with the help of an online data platform, ensuring greater access to timely, accurate, location-specific information as well as improved livelihood and risk management for agricultural stakeholders.
Moreover, a unified regulatory platform for the agricultural industry, an initiative of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, was agreed to be implemented through cooperation with the UNFAO and ADB.
This platform is deemed to secure unified management for and coordinate the mega projects and technical assistances provided by international development partners in the food, agriculture and light industry areas of Mongolia, increasing their benefits.
