Children’s Fund re-established

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On December 30, the Cabinet approved to re-establish Children’s Fund, designed for financing projects to re-build child and youth development places, such as Children’s Library, Children’s Theatre and cultural and sports facilities. The government of Mongolia will allocate funding of MNT 10 billion for the fund, said Prime Minister Khurelsukh Ukhnaa at the cabinet’s Wednesday meeting.
On the evening of December 30, a fundraising event to collect financial contributions for the fund was livestreamed on TV channels, joined by Minister of Culture S.Chuluun, Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city D.Sumiyabazar, public figures and artists. The event raised more than MNT 2 billion.
- The cabinet held a discussion on draft loan agreements on Asian Development Bank’s Ulaanbaatar Urban Services and Ger Areas Development Investment Program - Tranche 3 in Mongolia and granted the Minister of Finance the right to sign the documents. With total funding of USD 43.6 million, the program’s Tranche 3 will be implemented between 2020 and 2023.
- The cabinet set bag limits for special-purpose hunting and fishing in 2021. Bag limit for male wild sheep is set at 100, 60 for red deer, 40 for roe deer, 160 for Mongolian gazelle, 250 for hunting bird and 35 for grey wolf. Up to 540 taimen can be caught only to be released back immediately, and bag limit for other fish species is 5,000.
- The cabinet backed the bill to ratify the accession to the amendments of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and resolved to submit the bill for parliament discussion.
