Mongolian judokas bring five medals from Tashkent Grand Slam 2021

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Tashkent Judo Grand Slam 2021 was held on March 5-7 in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, bringing together 497 judokas from 71 nations.  

Mongolian team was ranked 2nd with its number of medals. Specifically, on the first day of the tournament, World Champion and State Honored Athlete M.Urantsetseg won a gold medal in women’s -48 kg event after beating Natsumi Tsunoda from Japan.

The same day, L.Sosorbaram, who competed in women’s -52 kg, claimed a silver medal while Yo.Baskhuu became a silver medalist in men’s -66 kg event.  

On the second day, IM Ts.Tsogtbaatar won a gold medal in men’s -73 kg by defeating a judoka of Kazakhstan for a gold bout. Moreover, IM B.Gonchigsuren claimed a bronze medal in men’s -100 kg on the last day of the tournament, bringing the country’s total number of medal to 5.

The Judo Grand Slam has been considered as a big tournament not only with its prize pool of USD 154 thousand also it grants scores for Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
