Environmental Education and Communication workshop held
Society
Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. The Supporting Protected Areas for
Conserving the Ecosystem Services – SPACES project of GIZ has conducted a 3-day
training workshop on Environmental Education and Communication (EEC). The event
brought more than 50 participants working on EEC in protected areas, NGOs, government,
research and donor organizations together to discuss and explore creative ways
of promoting and practicing EEC in Mongolia. They enjoyed the interactive and
participatory nature of the moderation and visualization methods (MOVE)
employed throughout the workshop, which allowed for factual plenary inputs on
EEC issues as well as infotaining games, exercises and practice-oriented
working group sessions.
As a result of the workshop, participants
-reached a common understanding of EEC formats, training
needs and tools,
-achieved a thorough grasp of the purpose, structure and
contents of an EEC ToolBox and a MOVE Manual developed by GIZ SPACES,
-learned how to use the manuals for planning, implementing and
scripting EEC events and related training workshops,
-were introduced to the concept of a National Environmental
Campaign based on EEC media and materials.
In a workshop evaluation session, participants confirmed
that they have learned a lot and had a lot of fun at the same time.
