Cooperation in Transport Sector between Mongolia and Liaoning Province of China Discussed

Ulaanbaatar, August 14, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Minister of Road and Transport of Mongolia Delgersaikhan Borkhuu received Vice Governor of Liaoning Province of the People’s Republic of China Jin Guowei on August 12, 2024.

 

At the meeting, Minister of Road and Transportation Delgersaikhan expressed gratitude for exchanging views on expanding bilateral cooperation in the transportation sector. Noting that China is not just an eternal neighbor of Mongolia but its biggest trade partner and investor, the Minister emphasized that as the cooperation between Mongolia and the People’s Republic of China has been expanding in all sectors, there is a huge potential and possibilities to further expand the cooperation in the road and transportation sector. 


Vice Governor of Liaoning Province Jin Guowei underscored that Liaoning Province with its six seaports, one of which is geographically nearest to Mongolia, has a developed economy, infrastructure, and manufacturing industry. The Vice Governor expressed interest in cooperating with Mongolia in various fields, including seaport, transport logistics, infrastructure, and mining.

 

The two sides exchanged views on utilizing the Jinzhou seaport, which is closest to Mongolia geographically, as the second export and import port for Mongolia, constructing railways and paved auto roads, supporting investments, and developing mutually beneficial cooperation. 

 

Minister Delgersaikhan emphasized the importance of this meeting for urgently resolving the congestion at Tianjin port, causing import container transportation of Mongolia to be delayed for 2-3 months, and holding comprehensive discussions on possibilities for cooperation in the transportation sector between the two countries and bringing the decision into tangible actions.
