Mongolian Professional Cyclist Finishes Fifth Place Overall in UAE Cycle Tour
SportsUlaanbaatar, February 6, 2025 /MONTSAME/ The 10th edition of the Sharjah International Cycling Tour took place on January 24–28, 2025, in the United Arab Emirates.
At the Tournament, 174 athletes
from 29 professional and national teams from 23 countries, including France,
Spain, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Greece, Turkey, Portugal, Thailand,
China, Japan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Iraq, and Oman took part in the
competition, completing a total of 526.26 km over five days.
The Sharjah International Cycling Tour is part of the UCI Asia Tour and is one of the most important activities for the development of tourism in the country, and the participants race in the most unique and beautiful natural places in Sharjah. International masters Jambaljamts Sainbayar (Burgos Burpullet BH) and B. Teghshbayar (Roojai Insurance) successfully participated in the cycling tour from professional teams.
Jambaljamts, the first professional road cyclist from Mongolia, who is currently riding for the Spanish UCI Pro Team Burgos-BH finished the Tour in fifth place overall, confirming the previous year's success and improving the UCI ranking by 15 points. Meanwhile, cyclist B. Tegshbayar was placed 21st at the Sharjah Tour.
Professional rider Jambaljamts won the bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Summer Games in Hangzhou, China, and became the first Mongolian rider to feature in road cycling at the Olympic Games, while B. Tegshbayar is the first gold medalist at the 2016 Junior World Championships.
