Spring sowing running at 74.7 percent

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On May 31, Speaker of the State Great Khural G.Zandanshatar and Head of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Environment, Food, and Agriculture Kh.Bolorchuluun became acquainted with the works being carried out at the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry.

Minister of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry Z.Mendsaikhan introduced the progress of spring sowing. As of May 31, sowing has been made to a total of 342.7 thousand hectares nationwide, of which grain is at 74.7 percent (wheat at 78.3 percent), potatoes at 54.1 percent, and vegetables at 40.2 percent. 

256 citizens and entities who made requests to the Agricultural Support Fund have been provided with 10.3 thousand tons of wheat seeds, while 34 entities have been provided with 1.0 thousand tons of fodder plant seeds with a 30-percent down payment. 

889 tons of pesticides and fertilizers and 1.1 thousand tons of fuel have also been supplied to farmers, with down payments of 30 and 50 percent respectively. 

Furthermore, loans amounting to MNT 72.1 billion have been issued to 1,129 citizens and entities per the decision to issue soft loans of MNT 100 billion for agricultural production, and MNT 50 billion for potatoes and vegetable farming in the framework of the Government’s MNT 10 trillion Comprehensive Plan for Health Protection and Economic Recovery. 

Speaker of the State Great Khural G.Zandanshatar instructed the Minister to ensure cooperation between citizens and entities, and pay special attention to providing citizens with quality foods. He also noted the necessity to make corresponding calculations as according to the Law on Development Policy, Planning, and Administration and the Budget Law. 

Minister of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry Z.Mendsaikhan also informed the Speaker about the citizens’ support for the 3-percent interest rate loans being provided for farmers in the framework of the MNT 10 trillion comprehensive plan, and their interest in having the measure continue to be implemented.
