Mongolia, with over 65 million head of livestock freely grazing on natural rangelands, has much to offer to the world’s consumers when it comes to eco-friendly products of animal origin. Besides goat cashmere, Mongolia has the potential to offer other high quality natural fibres to the market, such as camel wool, yak down, and sheep wool. As part of its goal to support eco-friendly production, thereby ensuring sustainable rangeland management and increasing the income of herder families, the Green Gold Project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in Mongolia has been working to improve the value of yak down and camel wool over the last decade.

Options for post pandemic business recovery for MSME in Mongolia
The impact of COVID-19 on businesses in Mongolia has been severe depending on size, sector, and other characteristics, but smaller businesses were hit harder than larger ones. Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) are one of the most dynamic sectors in Mongolia. This sector comprises 77% of total registered business entities; 72% of the total workforce; 17.8% of Gross Domestic Product; and 2.3% of total exports. Women make up a large share of MSME entrepreneurs in Mongolia.

Oyu Tolgoi LLC pays up MNT 649 billion Tax Act by Mongolian Tax Authority
After completing an audit of Oyu Tolgoi LLC’s 2016-2018 tax returns, the General Department of Taxation – the tax authority of Mongolia, on December 24, 2020, issued a tax claim for a total of MNT 649.4 billion (approximately US$228 million) that is due to be paid in cash to the Government of Mongolia.

13,200 people in Mongolia have had first dose of COVID-19 vaccine
At today’s COVID-19 press briefing organized by the Ministry of Health, O.Dashpagma, Director of the Vaccination Department of the National Center for Communicable Diseases reported that since February 23, when the vaccination drive kicked off in Mongolia, a total of around 13, 200 people have received the first dose of AztraZeneca vaccine against coronavirus until today, March 04.
