Mazaalai satellite to orbit over Mongolia 5-6 times per day
Following “SpaceX Falcon 9” rocket launch, which delivered Mongolia's first satellite “Mazaalai” into space, a ceremony was held to award certificates to the investors and sponsors at the National University (NUM) of Mongolia on June 19.

Cabinet to propose parliament to ratify intergovernmental highway transport agreement
At its regular meeting on June 20, the cabinet decided to submit a bill on ratification of the Agreement on Conducting International Transport through Asian Highway Network between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the People’s Republic of China.

Chinese government aid to go to Ger area re-planning
The cabinet of ministers resolved to dedicate the non-refundable aid of CNY 2.0 billion from the Chinese government to restructuring of Ger Districts. The funding project is expected to reduce Ulaanbaatar’s soil pollution by 75 percent. General plans were approved and had been halted due to the lack of finance. This issue was solved at the regular meeting of cabinet held today.

Some imported railroad equipment being produced at home
Railroad maintenance engineers and technicians are producing some equipment and devices domestically that would replace foreign import. These include cleaning machine of snow, sand and weeds on railroads and electronic test equipment and the newly invented devices proved to be very efficient in increasing work productivity and saving time as well as economical.

The International Women’s Association of Mongolia (IWAM) celebrated last week its 25th anniversary. The union of madams from different countries for humanitarian purposes and uniting powers for conserving cultural and traditional values, as well as for improving the understanding about each other’s culture, history and economic and social needs, was established in 1992.

Two soums of Dornogobi connected to central power grid
Construction work of 220 KW electric line with length of 160 km from Oyu Tolgoi mine to Tsagaan Suvarga mine is completed and Mandakh and Khatanbulag soums of Dornogobi aimag centers are connected to the centralized power grid.  Prior to this, 120-km long 35 KW electric line from Tsagaan Suvarga to Khatanbulag soum and 22 KW electric line from Tsagaan suvarga to Mandakh soum had been constructed, waiting for this line to complete.

21 aimags and 285 soums being connected to internet
Today on 19 June, a launch event of ‘E-soum’ project, which is being implemented by the Government, was held at Shangri La Hotel. The Government has formulated policies and is implementing several programs and projects targeted at the development of information and communications sector. Electronization of soums is being implemented in three stages within the programs and projects.

On June 19, the Ministry of Health, Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver and Mongolian Association for the Study of Liver Diseases established a memorandum of mutual understanding to cooperate within the framework of activities to carry out the ‘Whole Liver-Mongolia” national program.

Prime Minister invites investors as positive economic outlook seen for Mongolian economy
The second annual summit of the Business Council of Mongolia is being held on June 19-20. Under the theme “Regional Connectivity in Asia”, the main topics of infrastructure, power, mining, environmental awareness and other potential projects are being discussed. PM J.Erdenebat opened the summit with a speech and said “Foreign trade turnover of Mongolia steadily increased to USD 8.3 billion in 2016, while reached USD 4 billion in the first quarter of this year. Around 80 percent of the total exports consists of mining products. The Government is aiming to create multi-pillared economy by diversifying export products and manufacturing final products from the agricultural raw materials”.

EU-standard meat factory to be built in Uvs aimag
During his visit to Uvs aimag, Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry P.Sergelen attended the groundbreaking ceremony of “Khumen Negdel” LLC’s factory, which will manufacture meat and meat products under European Union standards with Austrian “BERTSCH LASKA” LLC’s equipment, on June 11.

Senior powerlifter wins gold at World Classic Championships 2017
D.Altankhuyag, challenged in senior’s 83 kg, won a gold medal in his category, after pressed 152.5 kg. He has secured the bronze medal in overall score at the World Classic Powerlifting Championships 2017 being held in Minsk, Belarus. The championships are to end on June 25. Mongolia is being represented by seven athletes from the Mongolian Powerlifting Federation.

Western shore region of Khuvsgul Lake connected to electricity network
A region on the western shore of the Khuvsgul Lake, one of the top tourist attractions of Mongolia has been connected to the central electricity network. Construction work of 16 KW electricity line and sub-station were completed within 40 days.

G.Ariunbaatar wins Song Prize Trophy of BBC Cardiff Singer of The World
Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar, winner of the 15th International Tchaikovsky Competition and laureate of the Chinggis Khaan Order of Mongolia, won the Song Prize Trophy together with Scotland’s Catriona Morrison on June 17 at the BCC Cardiff Singer of the World 2017. Having joint winners of the Song Prize is an unusual event for the BBC stage.
