3,400 Mongolians to be brought back from abroad in July
As of July 18, 10,513 Mongolian nationals have officially submitted their requests to return home from 55 countries to the SEC operative team.

Mongolia asks foreign governments to support its citizens abroad
With a goal to bring more than 10 thousand Mongolians, who have wishes to return home from abroad immediately due to the globally-spread COVID-19 pandemic, back to their homeland within a short period of time, the government of Mongolia has been intensifying its repatriation activities.

3,400 Mongolians to be brought back from abroad in July
During the press conference of the State Emergency Commission (SEC) on July 17, Deputy Prime Minister Ya.Sodbaatar, who heads the COVID-19 Operative Team of the SEC, announced that the Government does not have enough capacity to bring back all of over 10 thousand Mongolian citizens, who are currently stranded abroad due to Mongolia’s border closure to all passengers caused by concerns over COVID-19 pandemic, within only one month.

12 summer camps for children to reopen this week
On July 17, the Governor’s Office of the Capital City reported that preparations are underway for 12 children’s camps located in green areas around Ulaanbaatar to open from July 20. From the total of 20 summer camps that regularly operate near the city, 13 camps submitted their request to run their operations this year.

National currency in circulation reaches MNT 987.3 billion
The money supply (M2) reached MNT 21.2 trillion at the end of June 2020, increased by MNT 966.0 billion (4.8%) compared with the same period of the previous year. The main reason for this increase was resulted from MNT 1.4 trillion (47.1%) increase of time deposits in foreign currency, MNT 105.4 billion (4.7%) increase of current account in foreign currency

Registered unemployed decreased by 15.1 percent
In June 2020, Labour agencies in aimags and the Capital registered 5.6 thousand new unemployed, 2.2 thousand persons from the unemployment register hired on a new job, and 3.6 thousand persons removed from the unemployment register due to inactive job seeking.

Total COVID-19 cases reach 287
At a daily briefing of the Ministry of Health on July 18, Director of the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) D.Nyamkhuu reported that 25 peacekeepers who arrived home from Afghanistan have tested positive for the coronavirus, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 287.

Tax revenue decreased by 15.8 percent
According to the preliminary results in the first half of 2020, the total revenue of the general government budget amounted to MNT 4.4 trillion, MNT 4.1 trillion of which accounted for equilibrated revenue. Total equilibrated revenue was 94.1% of general government budget revenue.

In the first half of 2020, Mongolia traded with 135 countries from all over the world and the total trade turnover reached USD 5.3 billion, of which USD 2.8 billion were exports and USD 2.5 billion were imports.

According to the statistics released by the National Statistics Office (NSO), 37,591 mothers delivered 37,869 children in the first half of 2020. The figure shows the decrease of 492 compared with the same period of the previous year.

Foreign Minister gives directive to Mongolia’s diplomatic missions abroad
Minister of Foreign Affairs N.Enkhtaivan gave a directive to all heads and staff of Mongolian Diplomatic Missions abroad to provide all-round assistance and support to citizens, who made requests to return home from overseas countries, based on possibilities of the Diplomatic Missions, citizens’ initiatives and cooperation with their residing countries until Mongolia completes repatriating its citizens in stages.

COVID-19 recoveries increase to 211
A citizen who returned home on a charter flight from Seoul has tested positive for COVID-19, reports D.Nyamkhuu, Director of the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) at today’s daily briefing of the Ministry of Health. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 262.

On July 12th, the President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga gave a speech to wrap up the Naadam festivities, celebrating the 2229th anniversary of Mongol State, the 814th anniversary of the Great Mongol Empire and the 99th anniversary of the People’s Revolution.
