Mongolia to cooperate with China on food safety and export

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Deputy Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry J.Saule received the representatives of the People’s Republic of China led by the Deputy Director of the State Market Regulatory Administration (SMRA) Qin Yizhi on July 25.
At the beginning of the meeting Deputy Minister J.Saule thanked the Deputy Director of SMRA Qin Yizhi for his contribution to the development of bilateral relations and cooperation. She congratulated the SMRA on its establishment in April 2018 and introduced the current state of food and agriculture sector, SMEs and cooperatives, policies and measures being taken in the sectors.
Deputy Director of SMRA Qin Yizhi is on his first visit to Mongolia between July 25 and 28. During his visit, Mr. Qin Yizhi seeks opportunities for expanding cooperation and exchanging opinions on authorization to food and meat products' export to China, standardization, metrology, accreditation and certification. The parties will also approve an action plan to realize the memorandum of cooperation in SME sector concluded this April.

In this regard, Deputy Minister J.Saule made some cooperation proposals. She requested to support export increase of organic agriculture products and lifting the temporary ban on account of Mongolia’s intention to export not only horse meat but also beef, mutton and goat meat.
Moreover, Deputy Minister requested to convey to the relevant authority the proposal to export wheat and rye flour to China and expressed her willingness to hold a working group meeting at Deputy Ministerial level with the Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine Department in nearest future.

In addition, Mongolian representatives made their cooperation proposals in relevant fields.
Deputy Director of SMRA Qin Yizhi stated that the proposals will be reviewed for inclusion in the action plan and respond in the nearest future, and the certain proposals will be conveyed to relevant authorities.
