International Day of Forests celebrated

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ This year, Mongolia has celebrated the International Day of Forests under the theme ‘Forest and Education’.

The Ministry of Environment and Tourism in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Forest Engineering of the NUM School of Applied Sciences and Engineering organized a series of events that highlighted the human resource capacity development of forestry sector.

The fourth national conference titled ‘Forest policy of Mongolia, science and technology’ was organized within the framework of the event. A total 21 discussions on topics such as state policy on forest, forest education, pressing scientific issues, impact of climate change forest ecosystem, current state of forests, reduction of forest degradation, forest use, reforestation and restoration management were held during the conference. Head of the Forest Policy Coordination Center at the Ministry of Environment and Tourism B.Oyunsanaa highlighted that Mongolia gives importance to forest education and cooperates with developed countries on that matter.


Within the framework of the International Day of Forests, student academic conference and ‘Learning forest’ event for secondary school students were organized in order to learn the thoughts of the youth on forests, support schools that provide forestry education, encourage young people to study forestry and promote student researches on forests.
