Constructional work of cement plant commences in Khovd aimag

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ On May
13, a construction work of ‘Khovd Eco Cement’ cement plant commenced in
Buyant soum of Khovd aimag.
The plant, which was
reflected in the government program, will have annual capacity to produce 300
thousand tons of cement, supplying full cement demands of the western region.
As of today, yearly need of
the cement in western five aimags is around 220 thousand tons; however, the
cement price per ton is two times higher than that of in the capital city or costs about
MNT300 thousand.
When the cement plant is commissioned next year, the cement price will be fixed at around MNT150
thousand, or similar to the price rate in Ulaanbaatar. Thanks to it, it will be
possible to reduce the price for per square of apartments by 30-40 percent to
make it about MNT800 thousand.
More than 100 local residents
are working in the cement plant’s construction work. When the plant's operation
begins, 250 local residents will have permanent jobs. In addition, the western
aimags can save MNT43 billion yearly from transportation only.
