Stamp issued for 50th anniversary of Mongolia-Turkey diplomatic relations

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On July 29, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey Mustafa Sentop attended the first-day-of-issue ceremony for the postage stamp commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Turkey.

 

At the ceremony, MP and Head of Mongolia-Turkey parliamentary friendship group T.Ayursaikhan highlighted the joint issuance of the stamp by postal services of the two countries signifies further development of bilateral cooperation, expressing gratitude to researchers, historians, painters, and designers collaborated in coming up with the theme and content of the stamp which was created on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the introduction of postage stamps in Mongolia and the aforementioned 50th anniversary.

 

Voicing his pleasure with the joint stamp issuance, Mr. Mustafa Sentop said, “We have many things in common in terms of culture and customs. I believe my visit will be of great importance in strengthening the current cooperation between Mongolia and Turkey”

 

The stamp features a Mongolian civil aviation aircraft flying over the noted Bosphorus Bridge of Turkey with Turkish tulip and a Mongolian woman in traditional attire welcoming Turkish aircraft with khadag (traditional ceremonial scarf) and a silver cup of milk with pincushion flower. On the bottom, a camel caravan going across historical sites on the Silk Road can be seen, representing Mongolia-Turkey friendly relations from early times, Mr. T.Ayursaikhan explained to the guests.

 

Mr. Mustafa Sentop and MP T.Ayursaikhan stamped and signed the first day of issue cover. The issue will be kept in the Postage Stamp Museum of Mongolia.

 

Thus, the stamp themed ‘50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Turkey’ officially went on sale yesterday, becoming the youngest and the 1046th thematic stamp.

 

The first-day-of-issue ceremony was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Mongolia Ahmet Yazal, Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mithat Sancar, MP and Head of Turkey-Mongolia parliamentary friendship group Mehmet Erdoğan, MPs Bülent Turan, Özlem Zengin, Muhammed Levent Bülbül,Osman Aşkın Bak, İsmail Tamer, Fatma Aksal, Emine Gülizar Emecan, and Ayhan Altıntaş, CEO of 'Mongol Post' JSC B.Ankhbaatar and the company’s employees, stamp collectors and other officials.
