National programs ‘Mongolian Herder’ and ‘Development of national innovation system’ approved

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At its regular meeting dated on January 29, the Cabinet approved a national program ‘Mongolian herder’.
The program will be of significance in improving techniques and knowledge of livestock husbandry, preparing young generation of herders, renewing system of preparing and supplying animal-origin raw materials and products, having quality standard, increasing productivity and economic potential of herding families, improving condition to run environmentally friendly and accountable livestock husbandry, reducing negative impact of climate change, improving risk-bearing capacity as well as activating cooperatives of herders, eco initiatives and investment and providing favorable working and living condition in their home town and enhancing social protection.
The program will be carried out for 5 years and a total of MNT 250 billion is planned to be spent on the realization, of which MNT 30 billion from private entities, MNT 45 billion from funding of foreign projects and international organizations, MNT 40 billion from local budgets and remained MNT 135 billion from the state budget.
The Cabinet also adopted a program on development of national innovation system. The program has been formulated in aims of developing foundation and infrastructure of national innovation system, empowering human resources, developing innovative products, manufacturing and service in innovation leading sectors and in social services as well as developing cooperation for innovation in science-industry.
