Current state of transportation and logistics in landlocked Mongolia discussed

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/.  The International Think Tank for LLDCs, Mongolian Maritime Administration, GS1 Mongolia International Organization, Federation of Mongolian Freight Forwarders, and Mongolian Logistics Association jointly organized a virtual seminar on ‘Current state of transportation and logistics, and opportunities for improvement in landlocked Mongolia’ on March 5, 2021.


Representatives from the Mongolian logistics and freight forwarding industry attended the virtual seminar to discuss the existing issues as well as the feasible opportunities in the sector.


E.Odbayar, Executive Director of the ITTLLDCs, made a presentation on ‘Landlocked developing countries and Mongolia: Transportation costs of international trade’; D.Baigalmaa, Senior Officer at the Mongolia Maritime Association, ‘International treaties and agreements ratified by Mongolia and possibility of using them in the transport and logistics sector’, Sh.Tsevelsaikhan, CEO of GS1 Mongolia, ‘The results of the implementation and readiness assessment of the Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-border Paperless Trade’; Dr. A.Munkhbold, Development Policy and Planning Division of the Mayor's office, "Private sector participation in logistics network development in Mongolia’; and last but not least representatives of the Federation of Mongolian Freight Forwarders delivered presentations on ‘Transportation of Mongolian imported goods and current issues’.


Afterwards, the participants held an open discussion and reached an informal agreement on joining forces to improve the regulatory framework affecting the transportation sector.
