Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ After many years of study, the Department of Environment of the capital city is adopting soft release strategies for reintroductions of beavers and has created an artificial pond to assist beavers in adapting to a new home.

The pond will help them get used to a new environment and enhance their survival. There are plans to increase the number of ponds after taking the areas surrounding the Beaver breeding and reintroduction center under protection.

Two types of release strategies are regularly used for animal reintroductions: soft and hard releases. A hard release strategy involves the immediate release of the animal into the release site without any period of adjustment to their new environment, while a soft release strategy promotes the adaptation of animals to the wild.
