Mayor expresses support for Prefabricated Apartment Heat Loss Reduction ProjectUlaanbaatar
Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar held a meeting with the GIZ delegation led by Project Manager Dunja Hoffmann and Deputy Manager Thorge Ketelhodt. The sides discussed the results and implementation of the Energy Efficiency Project and the Prefabricated Apartment Heat Loss Reduction Project was presented.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ulaanbaatar Mayor expressed his gratitude to the GIZ for its support in improving energy efficiency in Mongolia. Within the framework of the Energy Efficiency Project, GIZ has implemented activities to renovate 22 schools and kindergartens in Ulaanbaatar's ger areas, create a budget handbook, electronic platform, and investment guide, and increase the capacity of the staff.
Project Manager of the GIZ Dunja Hoffmann said, “The Energy Efficiency Project consists of four parts. These include making public investment more transparent and effective, strengthening the planning capacity of key organizations, improving the capacity of the private sector, and introducing energy-efficient technologies in Ulaanbaatar. Based on the experience gained in the future, it is possible to make investment activities more open and rational, implement energy savings and continue to increase efficiency.”
The delegates highlighted that the Prefabricated Apartment Heat Loss Reduction Project has the importance of repairing and insulating the dilapidated exterior of the building and creating comfortable living conditions for citizens. There are 1,077 prefabricated apartments in Ulaanbaatar built before 2000 with high heat loss.
Governor of the Capital City D.Sumiyabazar mentioned the necessity to create real savings to provide towns that are not connected to the central electricity and heating supply with centralized sources. He also expressed his willingness to implement Prefabricated Apartment Heat Loss Reduction Project through the Capital City Green Fund under the Ulaanbaatar Investment Management Corporation, and to improve the fund's management in this context, and the capital city's full support for the project.
