Commemorative Stamp Marks the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Mongolia and Germany
PoliticsUlaanbaatar, February 1, 2024 /MONTSAME/. January 31, 2024, marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Federal Republic of Germany. To mark this occasion, a commemorative stamp was unveiled under the theme "50 Years of Diplomatic Relations between Mongolia and the Federal Republic of Germany."
Advisor on Foreign Policy to the President of Mongolia Odbayar Erdenetsogt conveyed during the opening ceremony that a series of activities will be organized in Ulaanbaatar and Berlin throughout the year as part of the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Federal Republic of Germany, and he underscored that the ceremony, held on January 31, 2024, marks the commencement of the anniversary celebrations. In addition, he noted that he is confident that relations and cooperation between the two countries, which share common values such as democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, will expand in the years ahead.
Following this, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Mongolia Helmut Rudolf Kulitz remarked in his speech that although 50 years of diplomatic relations may be considered relatively short, they have been incredibly fruitful. These past five decades have been characterized by friendship, cooperation, and trust.
The commemorative stamp, themed "50 Years of Diplomatic Relations between Mongolia and the Federal Republic of Germany" features the Khuree Tsam and the Street Carnival in Cologne. The design incorporates the national flags of both countries and the 50th-anniversary logo. While the Tsam is a cultural event with religious significance, symbolizing goodness and the cleansing of negative energies, the Cologne Carnival involves fairy-tale characters and clowns parading the streets, engaging in carnival activities and live performances. Collaboratively developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mongolia, and "Mongol Post" JSC, the stamp received professional advice and support from related organizations, artists, and senior diplomats, who contributed images to enhance its representation.
Diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Federal Republic of Germany were established on January 31, 1974. The first stamp showcasing the relationship and cooperation between the two countries was issued in 1951. In the 100-year history of the Mongolian stamp, more than 80 stamps related to the Federal Republic of Germany have been created and used in domestic and international correspondence. For instance, the contribution of Germans to the development of mankind, geniuses who became the essence of the mind, and advanced technology were selected and immortalized on Mongolian stamps.
On this occasion, a photo exhibition displaying the relations and cooperation between the two countries was presented.
