Mongolian Boxers Win Three Medals at the 2024 World Boxing Cup Finals
SportsUlaanbaatar, December 2, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The 2024 World Boxing Cup Finals took place in Sheffield, United Kingdom, where Mongolian athletes secured their spots on the podium with one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal.
Under the guidance of National Team Head Coaches, Honored Athlete of Mongolia Otgondalai Dorjnyambuu and International Master of Sports Batkhuu Otgonchuluun, Mongolia was represented by five male and four female boxers. Their efforts resulted in one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal. International Master of Sports Battulga Aldarkhishig won gold in the men’s 51 kg category, making the National Anthem of Mongolia resonate on the world stage. Meanwhile, Enkhtur Tegshjargal clinched a bronze medal in the 63.5 kg category. Among the female boxers, Yesugen Oyuntsetseg, a bronze medalist at the Asian Amateur Boxing Championships and the Asian Games, claimed silver in the 54 kg division.
This achievement marks A. Battulga’s second medal at the World Boxing Cup, having previously won silver, while T. Enkhtur bagged another bronze medal, adding to his record. For O.Yesugen, this silver medal represents her first win at the World Boxing Cup. Following the Finals, the global boxing rankings will be updated.
Notably, Mongolia was the host for one of three World Cup events that took place this year.
