Ulaanbaatar, March 20, 2025 /MONTSAME/ The prevention actions of forest, steppe, and yellow grass fires are being intensified throughout the capital.
In order to ensure the implementation of Official Directive No. 01, “On Measures to Prevent and Combat Forest and Steppe Fires,” issued by the State Emergency Commission and the Capital City Emergency Commission, a joint team composed of emergency services, police, environment, and traffic police officers has begun mobile patrols in the city’s green zones. These patrols will cover 31 routes in the green zones of five districts to ensure safety and prevent forest, steppe, and dried-grass fires.
According to the weather forecast provided by the Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring Agency, while the end of the first quarter of 2025 is expected to be colder than the multi-year average, the second quarter is predicted to be warmer than the average, with below-normal precipitation and increased dryness across the country. As a result, the public is strongly advised not to start open fires in the green zones.
