Mongolia’s greeting custom with khadag
Mongolians greet each other holding a traditional ceremonial scarf called khadag on Tsagaan Sar, which is mostly white in color. Between the 13th and 15th centuries , lamb skin was used in greeting. Since the spread of Buddhism in Mongolia, greeting with a khadag became a tradition among aristocrats and monks, and later among the general public.

The Bronze Gold Anvil epic was performed at the King Epic hall of the Bogd Khaan Museum on the last day of the last month of winter as a good omen.
Significance behind Tsagaan Sar food
Tsagaan Sar table is a unique mixture of food every household sets up. Tsagaan Sar serving begins with Tsagaalga, a dish of curd rice with raisin. The most important ingredient of the Tsagaalga is the traditional dairy product curd, in which other ingredients such as clotted cream, yellow butter, milk, flour, sugar and salt are added.

In 1207, Year of the Red Rabbit, the beginning of a year was marked in spring for the first time, on the first day of the first lunar month of the season, Chinggis Khaan rose early, prayed to the heavens, made offering to the ancestors, and greeted his mother Oulen.
Mandala Exhibition opens
On February 9, the Fine Arts Zanabazar Museum opened an exhibition named ‘Crystal Mansion of Pure Spirit’ as its first exhibition of 2018 in conjunction with the Lunar New Year. The exhibition unveils for the first time over 70 rare and precious mandalas made by famous craftsmen and Mongolian Buddhist artists of Ikh Khuree in the 18th to late 19th century.
Mongolian traditional utensils on display
On February 8, opening ceremony of exhibition named ‘Mongolian traditional vessel’ took place at the National Museum of Mongolia. Through the exhibition, the National Museum of Mongolia is presenting over 170 kitchen utensils and vessels made by Mongolian skilled craftsmen from different places.

A memorandum of cooperation was signed by the School of Agroecology and Business of the Mongolian University of Life Sciences (MULS) branch in Darkhan-Uul province and the University of Malaga, Spain on January 29.
Cyrillic and braille to be combined in textbooks
A project was launched on February 6 to provide textbooks in Cyrillic and braille for visually impaired pupils of the first, second and third grades of primary schools. The Government of Australia is providing fund worth AUD 55 million 253 for the project.

Automated factory to stimulate reduction of air pollution
President Kh.Battulga visited a precast concrete panel factory of ‘Erel’ LLC. The company “Erel” renovated its old plant, BUK-1, with the up-to-date German technology and machinery in 2014, becoming one of the world standard factories. BUK-1 started its operation last December.
National program for Healthy tooth-Healthy Child
Head of the Medical Exchange Society Mizuho Nishino initiated the project and she is working as a project manager. The project will be implemented for 3 years and a team comprised of 3 dentists and 3 hygienists will arrive in Mongolia twice a year to make inspections and treatments of children up to six years old, the time when basic teeth infection begins and give advices on oral health to parents.
