PM J.Erdenebat meets State Counsellor of Myanmar in Beijing
On the sidelines of his participation in the Belt and Road Summit in Bejing, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat met with Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor of Myanmar. Conveying the warm greetings from Ts.Elbegdorj, President of Mongolia to the State Counsellor of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of increasing a number of tourists and of reciprocal travels between the citizens in order to develop bilateral ties and economic cooperation of Mongolia and Myanmar.

Two-time world champion wrestler S.Battsetseg wins Asian Championships 2017
Soronzonboldyn Battsetseg, two-time World Wrestling Champion, Olympic Bronze medalist, won a gold medal of the 2017 Senior Asian Free style Wrestling Championship for the first time. The event is taking place from May 10 to 14 in New Delhi, India.

Mongolian Economic Forum postponed
Annual Mongolian Economic Forum under the auspices of the Prime Minister of Mongolia has been postponed indefinitely upon the request of Prime Minister J.Erdenebat. The forum was scheduled for May 18 and 19.  The PM has requested to postpone the forum until the agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the International Monetary Forum is finalized. Also, it is deemed that timing is not right to host the forum when the Presidential election process has already started.

Agreement on South Korean loan to be discussed by Parliament
At its yesterday’s meeting, Cabinet discussed “General agreement between Governments of Mongolia and the Republic of Korea on loan from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) from 2017 to 2019”. Projects and programs to be implemented with the loans will be discussed after the approval of the agreement by the Parliament.

MIAT lease Boeing aircraft from Oman Air
On May 10, today, MIAT Mongolian Airlines received Boeing 737-700 aircraft from Oman Air S.A.O.C, national airline of Oman under a 2-year lease. The Boeing 737-700 aircraft has 12 business class seats and 102 economy class seats.

Prime Minister to visit China and attend Belt and Road Summit

MCC targets to improve water supply and sanitation of Ulaanbaatar
On May 8, Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Batbold received Ms. Fatema Z. Sumar, the Regional Deputy Vice President of the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s /MCC/ who is paying a working visit to Mongolia on May 8 to 9.    The MCC's Investment Management Committee held its meeting on April 5 to make a decision to commence feasibility studies and detailed studies of projects to be implemented under the second MCC compact in with Mongolia. In this connection, Ms. Fatema Z. Sumar arrived in Ulaanbaatar to meet with authorities of Ulaanbaatar city, including Mayor of Ulaanbaatar  and line ministries exchanging views on further cooperation.

Japanese culture day to take place on May 20
On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of Mongolia-Japan Center for Human Resources Development, 'Japanese Culture Day' festival will take place at the Mongolia-Japan Center in Ulaanbaatar on May 20, Saturday.    During the event, ‘How well do you know Japan? quiz, Japanese song competition and Japanese tea ceremony will be organized. Also, calligraphy arts of Japan and furoshiki - traditional Japanese wrapping cloth will be presented.

Judokas win double gold from 10th East Asian Judo Championship
On May 6, Mongolian judo athletes won two gold medals at the 10th East Asian Judo Championship held in Gujing, China.  B.Erhembayar, International Master of Sports won a gold medal in the men’s 66kg and Ts.Khulan, International Master of Sports won another gold medal in the women’s 57 kg. Moreover, our four athletes secured silver medals and another four judokas won bronze medals respectively.    B.Amarjargal

Rio bronze medalist E.Sodnompiljee wins gold in World Para Powerlifting World Cup
Mongolian State Honored Athlete E.Sodnompiljee, who is a winner of the bronze medal of the Rio Olympics 2016 claimed a gold medal from the Eger 2017 World Para Powerlifting World Cup. The competition took place in Eger city of Hungary from May 4 to 7.

Mongolian shooter Ch.Narantuya wins double gold in Egypt
Ch.Narantuya, International Master of Sports won two gold medals at the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Women’s International Shooting Championship, which was held between April 05 and 13 in Cairo, Egypt.  The competition was attended by athletes from over 10 countries, including Bahrain, India, Egypt and Mongolia. From Mongolia, Ch.Narantuya and Ts.Munkhzul successfully competed in the tournament.

Foreign Minister Ts.Munkh-Orgil meets with Belgium Foreign Minister in Brussels

Construction of National Burn Center to resume
Construction of the National Burn Center of the National Trauma and Orthopedic Research Centre of Mongolia will resume thanks to the nonrefundable aid USD 8 million by the Government of Kuwait, reports the Ministry of Health. The construction of the treatment center building has been stagnant for 8 years due to financial issues.

A night of classic arts event by ballet dancer of the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet A.Ulzii-Orshikh will take place on May 15 at the theatre. A.Ulzii-Orshikh is a talented soloist who has been successfully performing for well-known classical, modern and traditional ballet plays, including Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Spartacus and Uran Khas for the past 15 years.

On May 2, Ts.Munkh-Orgil, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia  paid an official visit to the European Union. Mongolia-China Young Scientists Exchange Program to be implemented
On May 2, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat met with the delegates of Chinese Academy of Sciences led by its President Bai Chunli who are on a visit to Mongolia at the invitation of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences. At the beginning of the meeting, the PM J.Erdenebat expressed his view that this visit plays an important role for the development of bilateral ties between the science academies of Mongolia and China and of two countries. He added "Developing friendly relations and cooperation with the People’s Republic of China is one of the priorities of Mongolian foreign policy.
